Users are given 2 GB of storage by default. Uploading media and installing multiple themes and plugins can take up a significant amount of storage. If you click on Disk Usage under “Files” in your cPanel, or simply look on the right hand side of the screen you can see a breakdown of where your space is being used up. Here is what your storage bar looks like:

If you notice your storage filling up, or you’ve already run out, you can try these things on your own.
Delete Installatron backups #
- Start on your DoOO dashboard (cPanel).
- From there, click on My Apps. There should be a tab at the top that says “My Backups.”

- Once you click that, a list of all of your backups should appear. You can go through and delete any backups that are unnecessary.
Delete any plugins not being used in WordPress #
- Log into your umw.domains account and select an application. Click the “/wp-admin/” link to access the backend of your website.
- From here, you’ll want to click on the “Plugins” tab on the sidebar to the left.

- Deactivate any unwanted plugins by clicking the “deactivate” button under the appropriate plugin.
Delete any themes not being used in WordPress #
- Log into your umw.domains account and select an application. Click the “/wp-admin/” link to access the backend of your website.
- From here, you’ll want to hover over the “Appearance” tab and click on the “Themes”

- Click on “theme details” for any theme not being used, then click the delete button in the bottom right corner.
Do you have a lot of images uploaded? #
- Try using a plugin like Smush to compress the images on your site.
- Use a photo hosting platform and embed your images.
- Consider uploading lower resolution photos in the future.
Do you have videos published on your site? #
- Try embedding the video or linking to them. WordPress natively understands many video hosting platforms like YouTube and Vimeo and will automatically display them on your site when the link is pasted.
- This YouTube Basics guide outlines the process of creating a YouTube account, uploading videos, and embedding them onto a web page.
Still need more space? #
Book an Appointment with a DKC consultant. A consultant can review your site and give you additional tips. If after you completed all the steps you still need more storage, they can request for you to get upgraded to 5 GB.
