Creating a Subdomain

How to create a subdomain #

  1. Go to umw.domains and log into your domains account using your NetID and Password.
  2. Once in your Dashboard (Control Panel), scroll down to the “Domains” tab and click on “Subdomains”
  1. In the “Subdomain” box, you’ll type the word(s) that you want to name your subdomain. These words will appear before the name of the domain selected. Once you click out of the type box, the Domain Root box should automatically fill in your new subdomain name. Here’s an example of what it looks like:
  1. Under the Domain dropbox, select the domain that this subdomain will be attached to.
  2. Click “Create” and you’ll have a new subdomain!

Installing Applications #

Now that you’ve created a subdomain you’ll need to put something there. You can install a number of applications (including WordPress) to the subdomain and the steps are exactly like installing to your main domain except this time when you install an application you tell it to install on your subdomain. Learn more about easily installing applications on our “Installing Applications with Installatron” guide.
