Low Disk Space

Run out of storage? Try this!

If you notice your storage filling up, or you’ve already run out, try these things on your own! If you click on ”disk usage,” you can see a breakdown of where your space is being used up! Here is what your storage bar looks like:

  1. Delete old backups you might not need.
    1. Start in your cPanel, or your control panel. This is the dashboard you’ll see when logging into your domain.
    2. From there, click on one of your applications.
  1. There should be a tab at the top that says “My Backups.”
  1. Once you click that, a list of all of your backups should appear. You should always keep the most recent backup. That being said, go through and delete any other backups that may be extra or not needed.
  2. Delete any plugins not being used in WordPress
    1. First you’ll want to go to the backend of your domain. To do this, you’ll log into your domains account and click the “wp-admin” link under your domain.
    2. From here, you’ll want to click on the “Plugins” tab on the sidebar to the left.
  1. Deactivate and uninstall any plugins that aren’t being used.
  2. Delete any unwanted themes you aren’t using in WordPress
    1. You’ll want to go to the backend of your domain. To do this, you’ll log into your domains account and click the “wp-admin” link under your domain.
    2. From here, you’ll want to hover over the “Appearance” tab and click on the “Themes”
  1. Any theme not being used, click on “theme details” and then the delete button in the bottom right corner.
  2. Do you have videos published on your site?
    1. Try embedding or linking them instead to save space.
      1. Youtube and Vimeo are great places to upload your videos! You can take the links from your videos from there and either embed or link them onto your site.
